I know a thing or two about artificial intelligence and I can tell you that the way in which this dalle thing splices together or overlays the images is itself variable.
So no, it's not just throwing on some random photoshop skin. The artificial intelligence is picking the strategy to merge the two images as it never uses the same strategy twice for different topics.
If only it could take feedback from people to nudge it into useful directions, you'd have yourself the protosparks and trappings of what created the first brains in the first place, but in software.
