Depends on what you want. Midwest weather is vastly different than Europe. I'm not really sure where blacks are concentrated in the midwest, but if you're in a city you can probably avoid them mostly. Otherwise in the midwest the hispanics are probably a bigger presence.
If you want to have guns to defend yourself then the US is good.
If you like the UK healthcare stuff maybe go for that.

Unless you're heading to Detroit or Ferguson then you're probably not going to have to worry that much.
Illegal hispanics will dump their trash anywhere, leave dog corpses (from dog fights) around, etc. Most of the violent crime they get up to is cartel shit, so unlikely to directly bother some rando.
But more importantly in the US safety is what you make of it. You can own your own gun and pretty much all midwest states are going to let you concealed carry with license and defend your home regardless.
