Food doesn't sit in warehouses for months like you think it does. Once it's manufactured, it ships to stores.
There's ALWAYS only a couple weeks worth of food available at any one time.

Okay so if the story is "THERES ONLY 10 MONTHS WORTH OF WHEAT LEFT" then the truth is more likely that the growing season for wheat, plus the average time to process and refine it, is probably 10 months
