How did Roman Empire soldiers survived the Winter?

Just think about it.
They wore red shirts and shorts and sandals.

They had no boots or winter jackets. What was their secret?

go back to your mudhut, barbarian. we won't share our tactics with you.

Pure hatred of barbarians fueled them

They never got to any place with proper winter.

sleeping with germanic women during the winter

Germanic war bride to warm you at night

Have you ever seen a picture of an Roman soldier with long clothes? No ? Me neither.

Winter camps, winter sleep in tents insulated with stacks of hay, warming themself up at fires in between naps

Their red cloaks were basically blankets

Checkedus and correctedus

Winters weren't that cold/they had tents with fire going inside/fur for winter/different shoes.
It could be also some jewish scam. So many options

they wore long johns in the winter

That is what they wore in warm weather. Most of their military campaigns were in the summer. Plus it is hot in North Africa most of the time. Their clothes that the wore in cold climates resembled what people wore in the medieval period. The soldiers just wore the same armor but also wore leggings, shoes and long sleaves.

They camped along the Mediterranean in the winter and campaigned in the summer, the Roman legion that was ambushed by Germanics at in Teutoburg Forest were on there way to camp near the Mediterranean due to getting a lot colder.

Secret is not to campaign in the winter. Most roman soldiers in the north partook in pants wearing, seeing as how the local did it to avoid the cold. They also used lined hats and socks.

Also, it was warmer back in those days before the little Ice Age

Italians figured out blankets and fires in the fourth century but until then they just huddled together like penguins and let the weak get culled by wolves.
Are you retarded, user?

Here is your winter soldier.

Roman soldiers wore skirts so they could pee and poo while marching.

ancient armies did not campaign in the winter.

England had vineyards throughout the country under Roman rule. The barely exist in the South now, ergo it was much warmer.

uhhh, i dont think they had cameras back then germ bro...
