The EPR is an absurdly stupid design. You don't need a core catcher; you don't need four fully redundant, completely independent steam trains. They don't even write the licensing documents so you can take a train out of service while the plant is operating for repairs. If you can't do that, why four when two provides the same level of safety? They also got super fucked by AREVA's inexperience with large forgings.
