In many countries like australia for example, all cats have to be castrated by law, that's right, every single cat in the country has to be castrated, except the cat breeder's cats, in a generation or two if aussies follow this law, australians will have no other choice than to pay 6000 dollars to buy a castrated and microchipped cat off the shelf if they want one.

It's not as drastic in places like the US due to the high prevalence of predators, but the ecological damage has been absolutely catastrophic in places like Australia and NZ, which had no natural predatory cats. Cats can have up to twelve kittens in a litter, and multiple litters in their lifetime. This means more stray cats that kill random but important shit like birds which throws local ecosystems out of balance and fucks up the numbers of small animals. I love cats but if they’re allowed to breed like crazy they end up everywhere, either alive and killing shit just for fun or dead on the roads. No one is getting rid of cats entirely just for pedigree cats, most cat owners I know and see online don’t even have pedigree cats. Dog owners are the ones that give a shit about whether or not their dog’s mother and father were siblings.
