It hides in plain sight, neighboring Israel. It has some biblical and some Cold War history but it's utterly irrelevant. For example, everyone knows about Lebanon, a much smaller country. Lebanon's capital is Beirut, this is also known by most people. Lebanon has Hezbollah on the one hand and Christians on the other.
