There are about 700k police officers in America. There are at least half a billion guns floating around this country. That's about 715 guns per cop. If they can average ten guns per gun owner, they would each have to do seventy confiscations. Guaranteed at least one out of the seventy is going to start shooting at them no questions asked.

You're talking about fighting a protracted war against a superior force. You need tens of thousands of rounds, and the logistics to be able to sustain yourself and carry the supplies necessary to do so. I'm not trying to criticize anyone here, but logistics is something you have to consider when you're discussing a potential kinetic conflict. Especially when you're talking about assymetric warfare, which reqiures you to be constantly on the move to avoid an enemy military getting the drop on you.
