I personnel work 10 hour days even though I am only paid to be in the office for 8 of those hours. if they gave me Friday off so I couldn't be at the desk, it would benefit me

Yes it is retard. An extra 2 hours/day isn't going to tire you out as much as much as one eight-hour shift. You would have Thursday evening to relax and recharge followed by three full days to do whatever you wanted.

Four 10 hour shifts is okay, but it’s sucks when your contract allows them to make you work 10.7 hours by tacking on 4 minutes of time to your last break, and of course they don’t tell you if it’s 10.7 or 10 until the very last minute they have.
