this is no longer the case. brakes aren't boosted with engine vacuum anymore, and gas pedals have gone electronic in the name of keeping up with emission standards. Electric power steering has also made it's way into all modern cars because a discrete, geared electric motor is alot cheaper than a full on hydraulic system.
