The protests are over, but what were they really about? Western media kept talking about muh ebil capitalism and muh Modi, but I would prefer an unbiased answer or at least a response from Indians
Indian farmer protests
THEY JUST WANNA FARM
I think don't fucking get it and I read many articles and watched many youtube vids about it
Same reason china being in the same market as everybody else sucks.
Western media basically said “Modi is removing regulations and now the little guy (farmer) will be exploited”
I am skeptical however, since India went through decades of socialism, and it is possible that Modi is trying to improve the 1) ease of doing business and 2) economic freedom in picrel
And ease of doing business index, India is 77, and East Asian tigers are in top 10
WHERE ARE THE SIRS
Simple
India had a subsidy for farmers since the 1960s of fixed and nationally regulated prices.
Modi dumped the regulations because they were causing surpluses
He did it too fast so everyone protested as the days of gibs were over, he should have slow rolled it out but whatever
Farming in India is done like this:
Landed castes (basically Western/Soviet equivalent of kulaks) control most of the agricultural business. These people come under "Other Backward Castes" due to their historically backward educational status under India's system of affirmative action for backward communities so they get to play victim while owning swathes of land at the same time.
Anyways, the Kulaks control most of the farming business by exploiting poorer people. Unlike China or Soviet Russia since land in India still hasn't been nationalised, that meant that the government had to deal with the kulaks for its agricultural produce. India was very poor in the 1950s, so it was the government that had to distribute food amongst the people. The govt created the Food Corporation of India (FCI) that would buy grains from these Kulaks at a minimum support price. Eventually, these people began dominating the FCI itself. So every poor farmer with an acre of land had to only deal with these people.
The problem is, only rice, wheat, and a few other "basic" crops qualify for the FCI's minimum support price. Because the farmers can only sell to the FCI and not to private corporations, this means that agriculture in India is highly inefficient, and destroys the soil and rice and wheat farming is soil intensive.
Modi wanted to remove restrictions on selling of foodgrains to private players to diversify the crops, but the kulaks were obviously pissed because once private corps enter the market, their dominance would be destroyed.
The kulaks had their men rioting, and even raping, and killing across Delhi, to stop this from happening. Eventually, the Modi government withdrew the farm laws at the Union level.
These Kulaks had the support of foreign governments including UK, Canada and the US.
However, even if the laws are withdrawn at the Union level, they are being passed at state level.
States like Bihar, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu have nationalized the land and are allowing smaller farmers to sell their produce to private companies. Eventually, states that have passed the farm laws will prosper, and states that are run by kulaks will suffer. Free market forgives no one.
So...Modi good?
No idea, but it was probably something that this satanic cow-worshipper introduced to fuck over muslims.
SeeAnd Looking at those maps, India is far behind the East Asian tigers in Ease of doing business and Economic freedom. Is Modi trying to fix this with the farming reform? Is he moving toward more capitalism? I hope the nationalists in India don’t fall for the meme third positionist economics like Juan Peron kek
I never understood why there is two Paksitani flags on Any Forums, unless that is meant to be a generic islamic flag
SIRS COME BACK
Ease of doing business was a flawed method of judging how capitalistic friendly one's country is.
You could manipulate it easily by changing laws and various permit fees in one part of your state like Shanghai for example and difficult for rest of the country and still you would get great rating according to world Bank.
You can look up, China misused the fuck out of it so they had fo shut this whole ratings system down.
Current government is making it easier for businesses to invest by cutting middlemen and various permits but still there is long way to go compared to the west.
Farm laws was a positive step but got derailed by opposition party. It was also heavily funded by Soros and his proxies to kill it.
Thank you sire, two additional questions.
How did the General Indian public feel about Modi and his reform laws, is he really popular?
And thoughts on the popular Indian youtuber Dhruv Rathee
Nothing ever happens in this country.
Neither good nor bad. That's the redpill for today
sounds like they did not redeem
thx
kill yourself commie
Brazil also has to improve ease of doing business, how is Bolsonaro doing?
>Brazil is 50 places below Chile
1. It was positive, right now no other politician even comes close to his popularity.
2. He made his whole career by criticising Modi and his government. If you hate current government then you will love him and use his talking points.
He is a YouTuber so he is only followed by urban feminist type middle class.
He is someone like Colbert, reading a script criticising every thing Trump did but has no negative opinion when it comes to democrats.
Personally I don't hate/like him, no politician is your friend and they should be criticised to keep them at their toes. Rathee is not impartial and has a clear side/party he supports.
