See, I haven't bought a gas can in about 30 years, and when I went to go buy one this summer, there's all this bullshit on them.

All I need is a cap, a ventilator cap, and then the screw-on cap with the rubber hose attached to it. Now you have to have all these different parts that barely fit on, safety buttons to protect you from gas (but all it does is make you scramble to use two hands and you spill more gas!) THIS IS BUH-SHIT!

because they never are, it's always used as a political tool to attack whoever is president whether democrat or republican, while the oil companies rake in record windfall profits. But apparently multiple quarters in a row of record oil and gas industry profits is a nothingburger.

The only thing that matters is the price of a barrel of gas. It is a globally determined price, mostly controlled by OPEC countries. They basically dictate the price and control the supply, when they decide to pump less crude, the price goes up. When they see that people are shifting away from oil, they start pumping more to drive up demand and lower prices. It's all about maximizing profit. Just like how even companies in the US not part of OPEC are making record amounts of money, at the same time they have no intention of lowering prices or pumping more crude because it does not benefit them to do so right now. They want prices to stay high because they are using all their profits to re-invest in their companies and buy back stocks.

I mean honestly, how fucking stupid are people? Explain why gas prices are higher GLOBALLY, not just in the US. None of our oil or gas is nationalized in the US. We have no price controls or nationwide subsidies of oil and gas for American consumers. Most of what we produce gets exported overseas by companies like Exxon, Chevron, Shell, and Marathon, to more lucrative markets in Asia that don't produce much of their own oil and gas because they are willing to pay more.
Even things like Keystone XL, which literal 60 IQ brainlets think would lower prices, was primarily for EXPORT of Canada's Alberta oil fields. See, XL was supposed to prevent Alberta's supply that was going to refineries in the US to be produced into gasoline and other petroleum products to refineries on the gulf coast for export.
