What does Any Forums think of Neoplatonism? Did they refute the Gnosticism? Did they manage to make the best syncretism between Christianity and Paganism?

Platonism is alright, go ahead and read plotinus, plato and proclus yourself, eve dionysius the pseudo-aereopagite, essentialy neoplatonism or platonism as such interpenetrated particularly the eastern Christian and even in some cases Muslim theological schools, you can read Algis Uždavinys for some decent overviews, anyway you are approaching things from the historical point of view, wisdom or the divine philosophy (metaphysics) of the purely intellectual order is one so to speak is universal, and is not the same as "religion" as such, however both religion and metaphysics are not disconnected, traditionally in terms of the various religous forms, most of them are in some way deriving from the primordial source even if apparenrly divergent, I recommend you start by reading Guénon.

Christianity and "Paganism" as you put it for example from this transcendent point of view do not contradict, but beneath their divergent forms is that unity of metaphysics, or primordial view.

OP = MASSIVE FAGGOT!

Well of course and the Western Tradition especially with eriugena for example, dionysius the pseudo-aereopagites works where highly Platonic, and they laid the foundation for the theological traditions of Christendom, however the West through the scholastics became overwhelmingly represented by aristotelians, as opposed to the Platonic tradition which has is maybe more pronounced amongst the eastern Christians, and the Muslims too, who have essentialy a much more diverse range, of theological schools taking inspiration from both freely.

It's also not as if Aristotle and Plato necesserily contradict wachother and they were many attempts at reconciling the too, by who we call "neoplatonists" who were really just inheriting an unbroken continuos tradition which continued for a millenia at least.

Thank you, user.

>"Paganism"
Which is just a generic term for non-Christian religions, even monotheistic ones. The Islam was once considered Paganism.

>Mediaeval Christians believed that Mohammedans are heresy of Christianity (see - Docetism and Monk Sergius) who worship the triune of gods - Apollyon, Baphomet/Mohammed (/Mahomet-us) and enigmatic Termagant

be careful with anything involving gnosticism user.

The only meme thing I like about Gnosticism is its Theology.

>Monad is the absolute one, encompassing everything in reality
>not really a "god"
>emanates different aspects, all still being part of the Monad but not its entirety
>one emanation is the embodiment of Wisdom (Sophia)
>Sophia fucked up and created something that wasn't part of the Monad
>this something was akin to an abortion, the Demiurge, and "fell" off reality
>Demiurge got cocky, and tried to recreate a "reality" (our reality)
>it fucked up
>at some point, Demiurge stole chunks of the Monad (sparks of divinity) and tried to fix "reality" with them
>thus creating humans, namely Adam and Eve
>Sophia and company noticed and tried to bring these sparks back
>they more or less failed (couldn't do it) and succeeded (could teach the sparks the way home)
>Jesus is important as he's either the other half of Sophia, or an enlightened teacher that knows the best tricks and trips to return
>not all humans have the sparks, others have a dormant or remnant spark (both of these have to learn how to gnosis), others are fully material (can't access true reality)

Whats the sauce for pic

>2022
>not knowing that most of what Aristotle wrote were actually esoteric teachings taught by Plato
>not knowing that Plato's dialogues are just the exoteric doctrines (with the esoteric teachings not being revealed to the public)
The interpretation that "Plato and Aristotle are at odds" has already gone discredited: many believe that some of Aristotle's original teachings are just some of Plato's oral teachings. We have in our hands only a tiny portion of Aristotle's writings, which are only preparatory steps for the highest esoteric teaching.

I believe this could be true, but we can't really know, and Aristotlians are right, and platonists are wrong.

Where my Diogenes niggas at?
