There's natural physical limits to how far this tends to spread, particularly once we figured out governments to stop it. Power, however, is a virus. It can't be stamped out. What we've done now, is globalized, abstracted, and virtualized everything. The power-freaks (i.e, highest disposition to acquire power) are steering the ship, and you nobody/nothing can steer this ship as a global monoculture. Cultures can have some overlap, but they're fundamentally incompatible.
