This is not simple persuasion. The media is waging psychological warfare against its own people. It is the only limb that reveals itself so flagrantly.

Well, our entire civilization is off-kilter so I'm not surprised to see that the media is also bungling its function. That's why plutocratic merchants aren't supposed to run a society. But that still is its proper function - to sway mass opinion as a method of stabilization.
