My interpretation is quite esoteric not literalism. Yes, the book is divided between the OT and NT. The OT is sumerian and babylonian texts with the torah. The NT is greek writings about Jesus. A lot was left out of the bible which early christian texts and apocrypha cover.

Anything before the mid 1600's. Anything from 1650 till about 1890 is questionable and doctored. These periods did exist, there is evidence for it, but regarding the political and societal events, you can't make a solid claim.
