The biggest problem (at least for me) is the finances. You have to be able first to afford land, at least a modest house, a functioning well, a few sheds etc. And let's be real, if you're considering anything under 5 acres, you might as well not start. I'd say 10 acres is minimum for a long lasting culturing of the land that will supply you with ample food for you an others. Self defense? Not happening anywhere outside America.

I am also for it. But i fear at 30 ill never find a wife if i do. Even still ive almost resigned myself to a single male for life at this point. Too few folks who wish to live free of societys bullshit. Even less still who are willing to raise a family outside of its boundaries.
