As a GenX 90s metalhead with 40 years of playing half a dozen instruments under his belt, I find this statement rather amusing

they werent they didnt come from the area, and their early music was psychedelic/acid/dreampop, not close to 'grunge' also grunge was just a label that some executives made up the never called themselves that, 'gunge' was around since the early 1980s
