I hope Americans never lose their gun rights. They've ceded all previous rights without lifting a finger to stop it. Their government has jailed journalists, arrested civil servants for exposing illegal unconstitutional practices, fired them for freedom of conscience, sued citizens for free speech and colluded to deny them access to communication and financial infrastructure: and all this is happening under a debate about gun rights being the foundation of all other rights. As if the government is ever going to come for you all at once and force you to unite, never. Rather they'll continue to pick you off one-by-one. Holding onto the delusion of fighting against a tyrannical government while simultaneously serving them, and happily throwing under the bus any individual who actually does is the most hilarious thing about the post-9/11 world.

My point is I doubt it'll ever come to that, since it's easier for them to pick people off one by one and have all their supporters throw them under the bus, rather than simultaneously label everyone an enemy and force them to unite. It seems like a huge weakness to me.
