EU was good project in the beginning, free circulation of goods and not trade barriers will make economies grow. The problem of the EU was when it started transitioning from the original idea of being a trade block to becoming an empire with its own currency, central bank and political demands.
You can't just shove countries that were massacreing eachother no longer than 70 years ago, have nothing in common for culture, language, habits, ethnicity, history into one big gay union and think everything will be smooth.

If there are no internal borders in Europe, it means a migrant who manages to get in through Italy or Greece can safely and easily reach Sweden. It makes it so much easier to bring African people to every European country.
