Brazil also has a lot of gun crimes, but it is always someone poor who is stealing. Not some freak who is mind disabled trying to kill random people.
Here in Brazil you need to do a lot of bureaucracy in order to buy a gun legally. It is like taking a driver's license test, but with more restrictions.
So maybe what is missing in the USA is a weapons license. In order to buy even a pistol, you have to prove you have a stable income, you have a fixed residence and your mind isn't fucked.
You have nothing to hide if you have nothing to worry.
Liberal states like NY already have those. Not only do you have to prove those things but that you have a direct need of a firearm, such as an immediate concern of self defense. Effectively what this means is the Synagogues have their own armed police and no one else can defend themselves.

Its not like a driving license. Driving license doesnt allow you to buy a car, but use it on public roads. Yp Ou can byband drive on private property without one. Im all for this kind of permit though. Meaning a permit for carry in public
