There is no lowering the deficit at this point, and I’d even say it’d be impossible to even balance the yearly budget. Raising taxes does nothing to curb inflation, that money collected goes back into circulation. Raising interest rates is what reduces inflation, which is what the fed just did.

Yes.... but it's less inflationary than NOT collecting money and instead printing it via deficit financing. If the government taxed more, it would lower the deficit, and thus the money printing.
