In case you haven't realized it yet, work is designed to prevent you from learning or advancing in life.
It's literally designed to keep you busy to the point where you can't think.
The ancient Romans understood this... keep the slaves busy even if the work is unimportant, and their exhaustion will keep them from rebelling. It's a form of management, albeit a cruel one which limits the potential of the majority of humans on the planet. That's where we're at.
We work so others can play. In ancient times, the leisure class might sometimes perform a function such as studying science and advancing civilization. Seldom anymore. Now millionaires and billionaires openly embrace the idea that there is nothing left to learn, and that wealth inequality should exist for wealth inequality's sake. No pyramids to be built, no great works to establish, just the empty promises of an utter ass like Elon Musk promising Mars colonies we all know won't ever happen or will be catastrophic failures if they do. And then the resounding refrain: "Failure is how you learn!"
Then maybe we should spend more time failing at making life better for the masses than at thrusting our dick out at Mars.
