If you oppose this proposal, you must also advocate for the removal of all driver's license requirements, since the right to mobility is at least assumed (if not directly stated, as in the articles of confederation) in your constitution. There's also no need to raise the age requirement to own a gun. That's a stupid idea. If you're old enough to be drafted into the military, you are old enough to own a gun.

Well this is why you have what you call "federalism" right? My proposal is for states to be required to implement their own licensing requirements. It's unlikely that every state would agree to refuse to issue license in unison. Also, if a state government refuses to issue a license to a person that meets the requirements outlined in the state law, the individual can sue the state for infringing upon their second amendment right or make some other legal argument.

Many people can and do own cars without licenses. You can drive whatever you want on private property, license or not. Also what do you think happens when your license is expired, suspended, or revoked? Do they come confiscate your car off your property?
You only need a license to drive on public roads because they are owned by states and the federal government, so they have the authority to restrict access based on whatever they want. They choose to use licensing for access.
And, what do you know, turns out some states choose to restrict your ability to carry a gun in public based on whether you have a license to or not.

Tl;dr Licensing in general is gay. Training is good but licensing just ends up being a government revenue stream. You have to pay to periodically renew your driver's license but you don't have to retest. It's just a way to milk you of money.
