People here like to shitpost about race and crime statistics, but has anyone actually bothered to do multivariate statistical analysis of the topic to actually see how strong of a predictor race is actually for crime? It should be quite easy to just run some PCA on a dataset in R. I tried looking online for has anyone done it, but nobody has.

I've seen someone posting a study here showing that race is a better predictor of crime in an area than poverty. I didn't save the link because I'm not that invested in this debate but maybe someone has the source.

at some point you have to just make the call that the evidence is overwhelming enough. maybe you can get county-level data, but if you're afraid of someone caviling about population density, then they're going to cavil about weather, inconsistent laws across counties, differences in harshness of judges in predominantly black jurisdictions, fewer grocery stores in black neighborhoods, etc., etc.

When youbdo a large multivariate analysis you find the leading cause is actually single motherhood rates, welfare consumption, THEN RACE.
The issue is that single motherhood and welfare are highly associated with race in the USA.
This was an analysis I did a few years ago in grad schoolwhen I had access to a minitab subscription.
