That is because Americans always need a quick fix for everything:
Want to lose weight? Buy some weightless product, instead of exercising. Not pretty enough? Get some plastic surgery. Need to go somewhere? Make it is convenient as possible to get there by car. Not happy with your gender? We can change your gender. Feeling sad? Here are some anti-depressants. Can't keep up at school? Make the material easier.
Americans have become weak, in part because they have been told they live in the greatest country ever, that they are the greatest people ever. And therefore, anything that caters to them indulging themselves is good. Healthy at every size. Narcissism and gluttony.
That's also why there are so many movements to censor the Internet and speech in general. It's not just Americans. We have a generation in the west that is highly averse against discomfort. With that comes immediate gratification. Immediate gratification is that you want everything NOW and everything is about ME, ME, ME. It expresses itself in an inability to save up money, so you can expect a higher degree of borrowing money, taking on higher debt, and so forth. That is not just personal debt but also national debt. But it also expresses itself in drug use, because people are so sensitive to pain and discomfort that it's unbearable to them. So they escape into drugs, alcohol, or maybe other activities, other forms of escapism, such as obsessive video games (where our parents would maybe develop gambling addictions instead). It's always immediate gratification and "feeling good".
If you did the marshmallow test with western children, I wouldn't be surprised that they show significantly less restraint than previous generations.

The european urban environment looks much more soulless, besides the old tourist stuff. I blame communism, modern europe developed after post-modernity so there's no modern europe that isn't post modern. It looks really bad and depressing.

That is another way that you Americans escape personal responsibility: you still live through your national pride, what your ancestors have supposedly done or not done. The victorious Americans - never mind that America hasn't won a major war by itself for most of its history. But that aside, it's an easy way to self-aggrandize without having done anything. It's not what YOU have done, because any negro in your country could lay claim to the supposed greatness of the country he happened to have been born in.
You did not seem to realize that I called attention to this pattern or that I had called it out in my post already - maybe because it was too much effort reading a long post, which might also be why we are seeing a trend towards shortening materials everywhere, on places such as Twitter, where we limit the number of characters to such a degree that you can hardly express any thought of substance. It might also be why everything needs to be easier to consume, in form of videos and audiobooks, and people find it too inconvenient to read books.
But national pride, at least unearned, is an easy way to self-aggrandize without having done anything. Part of why Americans have become so pathetic is that even the most obese failure can, in his mind, lay claim to that supposed greatness of generations past. At the same time, Americans are appalled and find it nonsensical when the negros in their country demand money for things that has not even been done to them, at times they haven't even been alive. Part of the national pride, narcissism out of things you have not accomplished, is the decline of America.
