Why do Americans and Europeans romanticize North American natives so much?

We remember the Native Americans as wild, natural parts of the pristine, untamed wilderness. Same thing as wolves and bison. That's the reason we have so many teams named after indians but not niggers. The former was a cool, wild animal. The latter was farm equipment.

We may romanticize Indians as the noble savage, but I have never seen anything so mentally ill and embarrassing as the way Canadians beg chugs to drill them in the ass at every public occasion.
