Most big companies can't hire enough competent people even trying to outsource. There is no boogeyman.
Software architects at premier companies can easily expect over 450k. Engineers over 300 and junior engineers over 180.

$103k median for a software engineer is poverty-tier, even inland. you can leetcode for a month and apply to FAANG to get 2.5x more straight out of school. on top of that, working for the man is soulcrushing in its own way.

Yep, except sooner or later, someone who's NOT a dumbfuck manager sits down, crunches the numbers and realizes that hiring 3 pajeets to do the work of 1 actual employee and then having to give them extra time to actually get the job done, is not exactly cost-saving. Right before I left Blue Cross, they were beginning to quietly sever ties with Indian outsourcing and H1 contractors. Those missed SLAs really add up.

This. Hire too many pajeets and the value of your company will crash and burn when the technical debt catches up to you. If you are a white man in a leadership role at a company that is pushing for a high ESG score, do us all a favor and purposely train the H1B pajeets wrong. Not that you need to because they WILL fuck up on their own -- but you can at least accelerate while still getting paid. Or leave for a company that is friendlier to whites.
