Can the hollers of appalachia be saved from desperate poverty, decay, and drug abuse?
Why won't politicians offer them help?
Can the hollers of appalachia be saved from desperate poverty, decay, and drug abuse?
Why won't politicians offer them help?
>Why won't politicians offer them help?
because they hate them
just ask your average liberal what they think about a west virginian. that's basically what politicians think
Why do they hate them? Aren't most of the local politicians conservative Republicans?
I like West Virginia.
Yes, it’s called moonshine you craft drinking faggot
>Aren't most of the local politicians conservative Republicans?
they are republicans that see themselves as upper class. they hate the plebs
Only by ourselves. Any deals with outsiders will just poison us in the end.
Coal was demonized and the region diminished. Before that workers were heavily exploited in company towns and the region diminished. Before that honest land owners both native and non-native were driven out of their homes and the region diminished.
If you ask me it's because the federal government is scared of the region and its ability to produce independent and strong people. So control via poverty, decay, and iron-fisted rule is the way they prevent it from prospering and becoming a major threat to them.
They just need to learn to code, and then buy a starlink hookup to do remote work for Mister Bagelstein.
I prefer to drink weed tincture.
Probably not in local politics or hell even state politics. There's lots of lesser politicians,
Demonized? Wyoming produces cheaper coal. That's all it is.
If by saved you mean turned into a diversified blue shit hole, no it cant. your kind will never be welcomed there. Stay in the garbage dump you made.
t. Ozarks
Yes, demonized. Has been since the 70s and 80s.
The people who settled and live there are good salt of the earth people. Good, simple principled people who naturally flourish in a small community setting. That's the main problem: community has dissolved through decline in Church attendance, decline in nuclear family (and extended family structures), and the recent opioid epidemic. We gotta fix these things first, rebuild these communities and things will start to get better. These are good people who are worth saving
>weed tincture
What a fucking faggot.
Have you ever been to the area? Other anons have already hit on it.
The area has been ravaged by abuses from drugs being intentionally flooded in, companies exploiting workers, the government exploiting people.
The government has allowed policies that have beaten down the people so much that they have to rely on government aid to survive. All the while everyone there fucking hates the government.
>drugs being intentionally flooded in
i never get this. you could stack bags of that shit around my house like a wall and im still not fucking taking it. destroying yourself with that stuff is a symptom.
Yeah I've been plenty.
>intentionally flooded in
I dunno about that - people who got injured working in the mines were asking for pain relief - morphine existed prior to oxycontin and you can get hooked on that too
I'd say our meekness, is our strong suit. If you don't like simple living with a low cost of living, then simply don't live in the Appalachian mountains. There's opportunity for everyone, though. You can get a hemp license and have a 300 plant farm relatively easily, it doesn't cost too much, either.
It is a symptom, but they intentionally do that because they don't want the men in the region to have clear heads. Most of the work has dried up due to shitty trade policies and greedy unions, they have an entire workforce pissed off and with nothing to do, so of course they are going to flood drugs in to keep the populace complacent. Most people hate the fucking government, though, especially the federal government. You get the drugs out of there, it could lead to massive problems for them maintaining control of the region.
>intentionally flooded in
There are multiple major routes along the region that drugs are trafficked and sold.
There have been multiple and massive investigations into doctor prescribing opioids throughout the region when they shouldn't be.
No one is working to stop it.
It is intentional at this point.
You sound like a glownigger.
which county and state r u in?
>but they intentionally do that because they don't want the men in the region to have clear heads
im sure they do, but guys who will take it can't have very clear heads to start with. if men need protecting from themselves by not having any drugs near them im not sure what kind of men they are.
Pittsburgh, weed is decriminalized here and I know this for a fact because shot and killed a home intruder a few years back and they found my plants and just took them, didn't press charges or anything. Yeah you do have to apply for a hemp permit but the state of PA has already issued 400 permits. I can only hope things get better in this regard as growing hemp woud be an honest living for a lot of people.
too bad you don't have medical dispensaries yet
pittsburgh is weird - its the only real city in appalachia sorta out of nowhere
i had never visited as a kid but ive been twice now
Take away work.
Take away family.
Take away God.
Men aren't left with much.
All of that shit was taken from them through government action or inaction. Intentionally.
They do that because the region has a history of being extremely hard to control for the federal government.
Absolutly beautiful asthetics
we actually do have dispensaries, you need a medical card though and I don't believe you can own a firearm while holding one. It's cheaper just to buy weed from a grower, get an OZ for like $180 it's great quality bud, too.
Yeah um if you want those aesthetics buy an ATV and take that up there. It's not really meant for cars after a certain point. I guess you could walk up it.
In parts of WV (and kentucky) roads stop being paved and quigly turn to ATV trails sometimes randomly.
its all such weak victim mentality though. how can government take away family or God, you can only give those things away, and how can it be that a man can't find something for himself to do outside of a coal mine or whatever?
