Just admit there are middle of the road compromises in instituting common sense gun laws.
We can still have the 2A while also preventing 18 year olds and documented psychos from buying full fledged assault weapons. It's not a zero sum situation.
The 2A could actually become stronger by making it more difficult for undesirables to purchase firearms. Instead you want to create a situation so unregulated and so wide open that it could possibly lead to the 2A being amended away entirely due to your inability to compromise.
There is a solution in all this, and it involves mature thinking, something 2A die hards and gun grabbing nazis seem to intrinsically lack on a fundamental level.
