Millionaires that go broke are idiots
spend it all on horses like my mom

most wealth is inherited. you can imagine how that goes.
...
Don't forget to actualy live user. All that hard work if it makes you angry is for shit if you get run over tomorrow.
Usually they invest their personal savings into dumbass business ventures and drag the whole family down with them. That's the "smart" ones. The rest live outside their means and have a bad year on the stock market that coincides with their business going to shit.
People have a misconception of the value of a million dollars. It's not that much to even support an upper middle-class lifestyle. I would probably take a few month sabbatical but I wouldn't even quit my fucking shit job.
I don't agree with this. Want not what you can avoid wanting. Then save up in case you need it in an emergency (financial crisis or whatever).
If you can save now and not regret it, then fine.
Stuff that people do in their 20s is pretty meaningless.
Just get drunk and high a few times, have sex with around 5-10 women and that's all you need to not have regrets.
If I had millions of dollars, I would have so much sex for three weeks.
That's like not living until you're too old to enjoy it. The best course is to do a job you actually love and then life isn't some endless chore. But even so, I'm glad I took time to enjoy my life now that it looks like all hell is about to break loose :D
I'm Gen X, now comfortably wealthy and close to fuck you money.
Short of it is their wealth isn't all liquid. A lot of it is in assets and they made wrong moves and read the market wrong. For example, a crypto billionaire lost his billionaire status in the last crash. I think he lost like 700M or more and his worth was around 1.6B.
It's because a majority of these people inherited it. They have no fucking clue what they're doing. They grew up with zero understanding of what they have until it's gone. It's the same as sport niggers that go broke after their career ends.
>upper middle-class lifestyle
Especially in a urban metro but for those who could adjust their lifestyle, $300k could set them up with a good house, complete with furnishings, and a decent vehicle. Then you have $700k to live off of. Without a house or car payment, life can be pretty inexpensive. Obviously both will need upkeep and eventually the vehicle will need to be replaced but a modest lifestyle and very conservative investing of the $700k could keep you going for several decades. A bit savvier investment and you could be self-sustaining.
Used to happen a lot with lottery winners. Still does sometimes but that amount of attention that bankrupt lottery millionaires have gotten seems to have modified the behavior of many who win now. There are some good success stories these days.
It unfortunately wouldn't cover the taxes, cost of living and upkeep in many cases. 700k doesn't yield all that much interest to live on.
>but it's a great way to pay for college
I bought a bunch of houses, but it's only made me richer...
The main source of people's poverty in the UK is rents. They build tiny rabbit hutch houses, boomer parents like to kick their kids out so they can do whatver they want but it burdens the kids with a massive expense just to buy a piece of shit house that will fall apart in 30 years; if we went back to a more traditional kind of living rent wouldn't be a deal because families would share a house and support each other. But now I guess we just got welfare conned and we're all gonna get in the pod and eat the bugs and own nothing.
>the entire planet will be fucked up because of Ukraine, etc.
sorry I'm saying this user but I hope you'll be wrong lol
I get your point, I guess it's a personal choice.
We don't have regrets if we do something we truly want.
No shit

I understand straining to push a shit out since we don't have a choice when it come to eating and shitting. But why take the same approach to raising a child?
Well I didn't just mean nuke war, if the elites are actually retarded enough to do that, but more the incoming collapse of fiat currency/welfare state. That's gonna happen regardless meaning younger gens won't get to retire or live as lavish as their parents might have, maybe all we'll get to eat is crickets or some shit. The welfare tap will get turned down and they're trying to regulate everything you buy and everything you do under the guise of "saving the planet". They just kinda said so at Davos. I hope I am wrong but I don't think I am.
Unironically I think Eastern Europe and places like yours will be a much freer and better place than my shithole in the coming decades.
Things were very different when the expectation of having kids wasn't so forced. Single life with boarding houses and cheap living arrangements for childless couples existed.
I inherited 360k when my dad died. Mom spent 70% of it. It would be worth 1.5 million had it been invested in some medium risk stocks. Instead of investing in property she made me pay 70% of the expenses the day I turned 18. Pisses me off that I wouldn't have to be working right now.
Somehow their access to the money printer was cut off.
You ain't rich until you sell and if I was you'd I'd look into it sooner rather than later. Crash soon STALKER.
why does this wallet make my dick hard?
