It's really not that problematic, I enjoy the low electricity costs that come with it. Where Texas failed was ERCOT not having contingencies for this. The wind turbines were shut down as soon as it came in and oil plants froze up because they weren't designed and maintained around having such low temps. For example here in Corpus they shut down the wind turbines because of both the high winds and because the lubricants they used weren't rated for such temperatures.
