Their channel had some really great stuff. It's a shame that they were censored and banned. You can argue that they were Russian propaganda, but every news channel is literal propaganda for one party or the other.

It has been a slow moving thing. A few years ago, my cable provider stopped carrying RT, and I learned that was because of a provision in a bill that John McCain had written personally. And, then, there were attacks on all "foreign state media" especially Russian media because of Donald trump, ostensibly. And then, this year, they used Russia's special military operation in Ukraine to bring down the hammer and destroy Rt America, which actually had really great programming and was very light on the the Vatnik stuff. I actually switch back and forth between Rt America and Rt international because I learn more about how Russia sees itself from the Vatnik stuff. So Vatnik material is useful in my opinion.

I can still find Rt international in English, but it has changed a lot because many Western journalists and pundits who used to work for them simply cannot anymore. Now, they have 2 American correspondents (Caleb Maupin and Rachel Blevins) and a few European ones, but that's it. No William Shatner anymore. Max Keiser quit because he's an anti-war lolbertarian. We still have Crosstalk and World Spart which are great though. Now, they stream war documentaries a lot though.

I mean it was straight up Russia propaganda although it was pretty hamfisted so I can’t believe it really brainwashed anybody.
I tried to watch a documentary about Crimea that they did once and it was so over the top I still have second hand embarrassment. They had some American who works for RT travels there to reveal the objective truth of the brutal Russian repression of the Crimeans that he has heard so much about here in the West, and what do you know it’s actually all great, they are all happier that Russia invaded and turned the place into paradise and now Moscow is giving them all free socialist gibs and so on.
I will agree that the West is just as bad. Actually worse because the propaganda the West puts out is much, much better and therefore more insidious.
