For that matter, those firearms and optics were an easy 2,500-3K. Read he ordered one directly from Daniel Defense. That means somebody's credit card. His? Seems unlikely. And, DD isn't going to send a gun to an FFL if the names don't match.

If he did purchase them legally - then this is a monumental failure on the part of his school (who knew about the bullying and did nothing), local law enforcement (who knew about the disturbances and domestic reports and did nothing), the guardians (who saw he was seriously fucked up and did nothing), the firearm seller (who sold a clearly disturbed newly 18 year old without a license ~$5-6K in hardware and didn’t bat an eye), the FBI (who saw the threats on social media and did nothing), and so on.
