Any other right wingers in favor of strong gun control laws? I think you have to be very democratic, very trusting in your compatriots, to think easy access to guns is a good idea. With a country full of idiots and the mentally ill maybe guns should only be in the hands of healthy, responsible citizens.

I'm all for gun control for federal law enforcement officers and the military. No guns for them. Then I'll consider re-evaluating the 2nd Amendment.

A population in possession of guns is the only thing that truly prevents severe government overstep.
I know Americans allow their government to get away with a lot but I believe there are lines drawn that can't be overstepped without resulting in civil war, and a few statistically insigificant shootings a year are worth maintaining that leverage.
