hire legitimate security? there's more responsible gun owners than not, everyone should have the right to protect themselves. clearly we have deranged people in our society though....so why not create new jobs in thorough school security?

Urban schools have metal detectors and armed guards for when my brother was in HS.

What do you define as legitimate security? The school had officers try to stop him but apparently didn't help. Police have IQ of like 70 and I don't see how having more of them would help anything.

metal detectors, survelliance in the parking lots dedicated to seeing who enters to the school. well dressed security detail making rounds for the entire duration school is in session ready to pounce when needed.

There's no denying that we romanticize the firearm. Everything about America's history is based around it. The revolutionary war was peasant killing the kings men with muskets. The expansion west was individuals claiming land and defending it with repeaters. WW2 was ended by an arms race. When Europeans think of their heritage they may imagine a noble knight. When we Americans think of our heritage we think of a frontiersman taming the wild with a musket and sack of powder and shot. You cannot separate America and the firearm. They are synonymous.

Yeah but this is confined quarters, you don't want overpen. Something like a .22 or .38 hollowpoint would be ideal, you don't want it punching through the thin classroom walls and injuring other students.

I'm not even that old and part of my required high school education was a hunters safety course where you learned to properly handle a firearm. Nobody ever graduated from my high school unless they fired a 12 gauge shotgun at a clay pigeon.

Problem is innocents and police are often corrupt/unreliable but yes I think that, with proper bodycam documentation, they should be able to execute particularly egregious criminals.
