I'll never understand what makes someone want to shoot up an elementary. Like ok maybe they were bullied or hate their life. But what the hell do some random children have to do with anything?
The only logical explanation I can think of is that they absolutely hate humans, and the best way to hit -humans- where it hurts is by taking away their most prized possessions, their children. Doesn't matter if they're completely innocent. The intention is to cause severe trauma to the parents and instill permanent fear of all other adults witnessing this.
That's the only reason I can think of.
