i'm aware that ukraine can hit russian rail lines to disrupt russian logistics i'm also aware that russia has specialized teams to repair those rails if anything happens the one thing i don't get is this: why not just shoot the rails again while a repair team is trying to fix it, surely there are less russian rail repair experts than there are cheap ukrainian missiles/drones/things that make orc go boom

Like you said yourself, it would require much more firepower and would be a pretty difficult path. As it stands right now, I don't think it's a viable option.
They did get sick of it, but it also lasted for quite a while. It's gonna take some time until they actually begin to notice things and grow resentful towards it
