They havent proven there were any deaths outside of normal. In 1900 child deaths between ages 1 and 5 were 25%,and between 6 and 10 were 20%. In 1900 canada was a very different country. there was no electricity, very few doctors. the infant mortality rate was high due to extreme an environment. the fact is that natives in residential schoolshad LOWER death rates then those not in the schools. In fact natives in residential schools had a lower death rate then those of the general popualtion, including major cities at the time like Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. If you lived on the praries,the infant mortality rates countinued at 1 in 5 (ages 1 to 10) right up until the 1940's. Canada was a very tough country in those days, only one rail line, few roads, no doctors, no healthcare.
The fact that children died is a tradgedy, no one would deny that. But the fact is the natives have not established, not even one single case, not even the prima facia evidence of a single case, of any form of systemic genocide program.
in fact if you look at the time period, between 1880 and 1940, children in residential schools in canada had a better chance of survival then children in Ireland! (and many other countries).
