Now that Sweden and Finland joins NATO is there any reason for staying in EU instead of leaving and form a Nordic union with like minded nations?

No more unions
Fuck your unions
Alliance at most

Income redistribution union. Yes Norway, gibs oilmoneys

Including Greenland and Iceland is completely pointless

Yes, this reason is how you swedes vote.

Yeah this, we've proven time and time again that we can't live under the same rules. Look at what you spiteful fuckers did to malmø, bloody simpleminded zealots...

Norway could get to rule on paper though, especially if they pay for a new Dannevirke.

Wouldn't mind having a few tridents lurking those waters though.

If you want independence, then you would need to leave or not join NATO in the first place.
I'm all for you guys working together based on common cross-cultural relations, history, and interests, but NATO membership means losing sovereignty, not increasing it.

yup but joining Nato and leaving EU would be a good start. we'll need article 5 for the foreseeable future, regardless of which path we take, we'd still only be a slightly larger german hat.

Living in Russia's shadow is already a loss to sovereignty, so becoming a NATO country is empowering in the sense that they can ignore Kremlin's whining.

O. You can live not in shadow. I remember you are quite fond of Empire times, actually.

Soviets are gone, come back, Pekka. Cheap commodities right here.

I can't see Denmark, Norway and Iceland wanting to weigh themselves down with feminist Sweden and mongoloid Finland. Sweden and Finland are trying to provoke Russia into war.

CFSP, we can't ignore Brussel's whining, so living under EU bureaucracy is a total loss of sovereignty

/blocks your path

you aren't joining lol

Lets join NATO and call it a day right there. Thats all we need. We are to different and should remain for the most part the way we are. Peace scandibros.

I think Norway could lead it(and become the moneypig), you shouldn't underestimate their nordic inferiority complex. Besides Greenland/Faroese/Iceland are all results of Norwegian imperialism, so while it's well buried, it's probably still there.
Now the only I see it being possible, is rooted in scandi-agrian liberalism, "vestjysk management" were you decentralize and assume people are working for their own(and therefore the common) interest. High trust, high taxes, high forced emigration rate to Rwanda.

Never forget the Telia/Telenor attempted merger from the early 2000s. The Swedish minister in charge called Norway the last "soviet state". We look alike from outside but there are subtle differences that bring any attempt to form a union down. Norwegians are wary of unions due to our history for instance, no EU membership and so on.

Yup any union would need to be so decentralized it would be almost pointless, we can't even come up with a free trade agreement ffs!
But I do think the 'rigsfællesskab' is a good foundation, with local parliaments. We'd love to see some more Norwegian investment there at least. Same with our wind/hydro combined pipedream, so much beautiful potential, such ugly, petty realities...

Norway would be fools to agree to that. You know damn well that Sweden and Finland will just leech off them and prevent anything meaningful from being achieved while promoting foreigners and feminists, and provoking war with Russia.

Don't let them trick you. England is weighed down by our union. Take a lesson from us and don't pay for them.

Pretty sure Denmark, Sweden and Finland would go pretty far to meet Norways demands for a union. The alternative, EU, is 100x worse than a Nordic union.

A Nordic union would be self sustainable. Sweden, Finland and Denmark are net contributors to the EU.

The idea that Finland, Sweden and Denmark would leech is wrong. Our main issue with EU is exactly the leeching aspect, after UK left we have zero influence as well. It used to be UK and Scandinavia pushing for economic reforms but when you left the EU is accelerating in the wrong direction.

Danish politicians however are incredible leeches, they genuinely think that they are owed something because they are politicians. Example: 50 years ago, a politicians salary matched the median income in the country, now it is more than double the median income. Guess who decides the salary? Politicians take a vote.

Norway could use their oil fund to invest in profitable projects throughout the Nordic region. That would create economic growth and increase the wealth of the oil fund. Of course we would need a higher emmigration rate. The Social democratic party just signed funding for emigration of Somalians and the opposition want to go even further. Of course we would need article 5 to make it work. We should aim at becoming an important strategic member to NATO, with our geography and combined strenght we certainly can.

Yeah it's pathetic that we have so little control of the baltic, when did we stop dreaming of mare nostrum?
