I am going this fall for a master degree in Canada. I plan on staying there and getting the citizenship afterwards

I plan on renting a room in a shared flat in the suburbs of Ottawa away 30 minutes car ride from university. I checked on Kijiji and there are tons of offers priced between 400-600 c dollars updated recently (1-4 days). It seems affordable and possible.
am I missing on something?

In terms of rentals, it's doable, but in terms of actually owning a property outside of the literal ghetto or the middle of nowhere, you're going to have very few options outside of living in the country in a western province, living in western Canada however subjects you to being considered a second class citizen to anyone from the major cities.
Unless prices have drastically changed since I last checked, you may end up stuck renting in perpetuity.
