Look at his furtive eye movements. He is constantly "checking in" with those around him and self-assessing: "Am I a good boy? Am I doing it right? Smile now. No, not too much. Nod now. Get it right."
You can tell that he is completely dominated by his girlfriend or wife. He seeks her approval by continuing her fantasy that their son is a fruitloop transformer. All he ever wanted was something resembling a normal life, but he wound up going along with this gender charade.
You can tell me he is the architect of all this, but I don't believe it for a second. He is weak, and I can read it in his eyes. He is seeking approval. He wants to be the "good boy". By allowing his own son to become a whore of a daughter for his wife's appetite for progress.

I'm from a rural part of Australia, about 500 miles away from any large settlement. The last time I went to a big city was 5 years ago to try and look for work. It was awful, smelly, rude, and worst of all people would make sweeping assumptions based on appearance so everybody self-censored by conforming to the nearest acceptable stereotype. If you step out of the lines you are considered "dangerous". In a small town there's the occasional sperg kid wearing weird stuff, but in a big city these people are all funneled all into the same institutions and feed off eachother's sperge-ness.
It sucks. Urbanisation was a mistake.
