Hegel reduced all future philosophers to literary critics. People in that field would rather sift through his nonsense for decades than come up with a unique idea of their own.

And then to compound the issue, after the war(s) those who fancied themselves philosophers became increasingly cloistered in haughty circles of people being overly intellectual for its own sake as a way to differentiate themselves from the plebs, leading first to obscurantist fart sniffing like the mid-century French and then the current situation where "professional philosophers" basically just produce content for other professional philosophers, i.e., overwrought crystal towers of impenetrable nonsense in order to fulfill the academic imperative of "publish or perish"

We figured everything out thousands of years ago. Philosophy has always just been rediscovering the profound ancient wisdom we've lost, and then communicating it to people. This is exactly what Jordan Peterson does and the world hates him for it, because we do not want to remember the profound ancient wisdom, we want to bury it forever and build our own reality, which will never work. Maybe the next civilization will learn from our mistakes.

maybe it came to a dead end where people have been mulling over the same questions for thousands of years without really getting decisive answers and there's little new to say so natural science seems like a more promising field of study at this point of time
