The reason that the "vaccines cause autism" shit was pushed was to intentionally discredit any hesitance whatsoever against anything labelled a vaccine. When a brand new vaccine using a never-before-used tech was disseminated after an unprecedented exception in the rules governing safety and testing, anyone simply asking "is this truly safe?" was immediately declared to be exactly the same as a loon who thinks that normal, regular, well-established vaccines cause autism. It's blatantly intellectually dishonest, but it doesn't matter because the people pushing that narrative aren't governed by intellect but by emotion; they do what they do because they are told it makes them good people and they are desperate to feel as if they are.
