...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern Spalding, southern Rockdale, Henry, central Butts and southwestern Newton Counties through 745 AM EDT...

At 711 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was over Locust Grove, or 7 miles west of Jackson, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Locations impacted include...

McDonough, Jackson, Stockbridge, Locust Grove, Porterdale, Jenkinsburg, Blacksville, Towalaga, Ola, Magnet, Worthville, Almon, Walker Mill, McKibben, Luella, Flippen, Fincherville, Kelleytown, Oak Hill and Eagles Landing.

People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to hydroplaning.

A lot of the regional NWS offices predicted a May of drought and heatwave FYI. My bet is we will have a toasty summer but the global warming loons couldn't wait to get us scared. But May at least is looking like on average Temps and if anything stormy. They don't know what they are doing.
