Remember this book? predictive programming
Look into the summer reading lists of the 1990s
W-why? Spoon feed me user
No! I was in GATE! I read the first chapter and took the accelerated reading test on the computer. 95% right by guessing. Bypassed the predictive programming hahaha.
Literally had a full 45 minutes every Tuesday and Thursday dedicated to reading and discussing this book in 5th grade for 1 full semester. I just remember the baby killing parts
I remember the chems they give people to make them docile and no longer see color.
Just read this book again. Jesus it really was right about many things.
Yeah I do remember that now and also when he sees the light in the blizzard, a kid in my class then made the non-serious comment that it took place in a snowglobe, teacher got pissed for him not taking it seriously
I got so many AR points. The other kids were envious because I had the most in the school. Definitely a GATE trap. I just skimmed/guessed on the tests for the high point books and got like 98% correct. I can guarantee a lot of this media is written by the same people just with different pseudonyms, especially a lot of those 90's kids chapter books like magic treehouse and goosebumps, animorphs, etcetera. Nobody gets that popular organicly. Scholastic is a government entity for indoctrination of children on the down low.
I remember reading this book in 7th grade. It's one of my favorite books, because I believe it's true to the enduring spirit of freedom within humanity.
I never actually read it I just bullshitted what ever essay I had about it and still got an A
Basically this for me as well
Lmao never read it. It was some fag shit about color blindness right?
i do, but i don't think i ended up reading it
i can't read what happens
Honestly, the book sounds different in this thread, than in my AR program, I doubt I should have got the grade I did just by guessing.
Are you of the opinion that 1984 is taught in American schools so that people will only associate tyranny with explicit and centralized power? I thought it was an odd interpretation when I first heard it, but at this point I don't think much is out of question.
>7th grade
Same.
Big fan of this book. The movie was also very good.
I can answer probably questions if anyone's confused.
I don't read books written by women 'cause I'm not a chick.
It was about a dystopian authoritarian government that promoted eugenics, allegory for fascism/national socialism. More anti fascist liberal propaganda
I remember this book but was too retarded to understand any deeper meaning. Quick run down?
summary i forget everything about it except one guy gets all the info dumped into his head? And has to share it with everyone? Am i remembering correctly? Is that like an analogy for people who browse pol having to share all the terrible things about the world with normies?
The Giver character himself was based other than that it sounds like life in 2080. Owning nothing and eating bugs and such. I remember how at the start of the book some military plane flew over and it freaked everyone out because they had no knowledge of the existence of high tech spy planes
