No, there wasn't. But one also has to stay with historical facts, and it was germany that declared war on the USA, not the other way round. Reasons for that were plentiful, but it does not change the simple facts that: 1. USA was attacked at Pearl Harbor by the Axis (Japan). 2: Germany declared war on the USA shortly after that. Of course you can argue along the lines that the agressor is probably not the one who fires the first shot, but the one who forces his enemy to do so (and there is plenty of arguments to support that statement, i.e. that Japan was pretty much forced into the war and only served as a bait to get the USA in war with Germany), but at any rate the US-german war could have been avoided, at least for some time, from the german side. Germany was in no way in need to help the japanese out, as they had not supported Germany in Barbarossa. Germany could jsut have said: fuck you japniggers, you didn't join against the Bolsheviks, why should we give a fuck if you get your ass beaten by the mutts.
