It's a good critique. It's also worth recalling the OUN were not very popular with Ukrainians. I'm not entirely sure how Bandera became an icon, my guess is that Ukrainians were looking for someone of some historical note who fought for the country. In my view they have plenty of legitimate people now and the whole Bandera thing seems more romanticized by Ukrainians than based in fact. However it's also true Bandera had nothing to do with the massacres and he was mostly against the jews
