It does not work because the magnet and car/metal are pulling into different directions which equalizes the force.

It would work but it wouldn’t be a good idea. Imagine you’re flying with your mate, and something goes horribly wrong. A valve on top is frozen shut and you need to climb on top of the fucking balloon like a madman to unfuck it. And then, all of a sudden, you retroactively go through a sex reassignment surgery. You got a legit flesh, blood and puss axewound! Ghoulish stuff, wouldn’t recommend it.

this is literally how hot air balloons work the only problems here are physics oversights
1) the cardboard box will likely fail under your weight
2) no hole in the top of balloon to regulate temperature
3) flame too weak without real fuel/air mixture source to generate required volume of proper temperature air
4) undefined balloon material possibly flammable
5) undefined string material possibly flammable or possibly too weak for prolonged tensions
i think if u corrected these 5 issues u could make a working hot air balloon in your backyard if u really wanted to.
