Payton Gendron, 18, spent months reflecting on his plans to conduct a mass shooting in the digital journal and said his exposure to Any Forums, an online message board known as a hotbed for extremism, kept him motivated to stick to his plans.
“My current beliefs started when I first started to use Any Forums a few months after covid started,” Gendron wrote in the diary, which was posted on the Discord app and was taken down after the attack.
“Every time I think maybe I shouldn’t commit to an attack I spend 5 min [on] Any Forums, then my motivation returns,” he wrote in another entry, referencing the message board’s politics section, which is known for racist and anti-semitic content.

I don't think anyone here advocates for mass shootings, especially in shopping malls with black grannies just going about their day. At best, people might wonder why aren't they targeting corrupt politicians for example, or maybe you'll get trolls just trying to cause outrage as usual in an online forum. But to me, comments like that and as I'm hearing more about this guy; the fact he's posting stuff like that and spending all this time on Discord makes me think he was being egged on by glowies.
We would all be better off if we were not allowed to access the internet at all.
